Carol entered the science racket via a tour of duty on locked wards. By hanging out with some of the pioneers in ionization detectors, she gained the knowledge to develop Valco Instrument's Helium Ionization Detector and is on the patent for their new non-radioactive omni detector. She currently chairs a SEMI Standard Group and the Pittsburgh Conference Specialty Gas session.
