More important than how long a life was, more important than how full a life was, is the knowledge that one was truly loved in their lifetime. It was so wonderful to know Brian was surrounded by such love as I have seen in his dear family. I cannot begin to explain what I have received from Brian. He was truly one of only a few in my life who made me a better person. He was so special to us and to me. I do not think you can understand his true contribution to the science of ambient air monitoring and how instrumental he was in the early stages of the program. He was a leader or maybe more appropriately a mentor. I consorted with him as an equal and as a friend. There were few with whom I could share such a bond. Please know his soul lives on and his contributions will long be visible in the work we do.
